Jorge Camacho (1934–1985) was a notable Cuban artist known for his surreal and abstract works. Born in Havana, he studied at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes "San Alejandro" before moving to Paris in the early 1960s. There, he became influenced by Surrealism and abstract expressionism, developing a distinctive style characterized by dreamlike imagery and symbolic detail.
Camacho exhibited widely in Europe and Latin America, including at the Galerie Pierre in Paris and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid. His work remains celebrated for its innovative exploration of the subconscious and metaphysical themes. Despite his relatively short life, Camacho's legacy endures through his unique contributions to modern art. He passed away in Madrid on December 26, 1985.
